first day of class

Q: Everyone wants to be an expert, but what is an expert?
A:
Someone who takes knowledge and adapts and extends that knowledge to create something new.

Q 2: How should we live?
A 2: We need to become experts at living well.

Q 3: How do we become experts at living well?
A 3: The key to living well is a solid and calm mind.

Q 4: How do you get a solid mind?
A 4: A shift needs to occur in, a turning of the mind and something causes that turn.

Q 5: What is that something?
A 5: _______________.

This is my thought process after only ONE DAY of an introductory Philosophy class.

I think a lot is going to change this quarter. Stay tuned and find out.

acceptance

I followed a girl who wasn't there.

But I really wish she was. (Updated: 4/3/10)

Reference point: at home on spring break.

how much did they pay you to give up on your dream?

I watched Up In the Air tonight for the second time in two days. Thought I should give it a second viewing before I send it back to Netflix and get In The Loop.

I really enjoyed Up In the Air. Great acting, lots of emotions, great lines of dialogue, and it raises provocative questions. What more can you ask for from a film?

It got me thinking about my dreams and what I want out of life and I come to this realization...

Everyone has a dream in life...

But it is up to oneself to make that dream become a reality.

the sign of a great night

It is definitely a weird/interesting/hypnotic/puzzling/dazzling feeling to go to sleep while the sun is coming up.

anniversary

It has been one year since the first tipping point happened.

Right around this time in fact, one year ago exactly I was probably talking to James Cromwell. Now I am in the Kennedy Library at Cal Poly studying for finals by reading about "Gender, Race, and Ethnicity in the Labor Market." To quote and Oscar winning Austrian, "HOW FUN!"

I am proud of this last year. I have managed to get my grades up and at the same time have acted in two productions: the one act play Can Can and the short film Defense Mechanisms.

Before a year ago, my mind was all over the place with what I thought I wanted to do. I could not keep my mind set on anything for over a week, let alone a year. I am happy now that it is a year later and my mind is still focused on this goal
.

Since that day, my year has been pretty good.

Let's push this anniversary to two.

premiere

So it's later than Tuesday, but finals are coming up and the quarter's coming to an end so things are getting pretty busy.

Anyways...

Showing the short to the class on Tuesday went really well. The people who have seen it seem to really enjoy it so that is a good feeling. I learned a lot through making this film so that is a good feeling too. Also, I got an A on it and that's always nice.

Here it is, my first film. Enjoy.

completed and pending release

In a little over a week's time I: wrote a script, taught myself how to run a video camera, shot about thirty minutes of film, rented a firewire cable, rented an iBook G4 with iMovie, learned by doing how to work iMovie, edited the film down to 10:08:19 (needed to get it below 10), and cut fluff footage to get it down to 9:59:13.

I have to say that I got a special feeling when I saw "Written and Directed by Eric Cutruzzula" flash onto the screen as the credits rolled.

My first film is in the can and I cannot wait for the next one.

But first we have to see the audience's reaction.

To be continued... on Tuesday.
